Facet help centre
Everything you need to know about using Facet.
Getting started
- What is Facet? Facet gives you one site for your portfolio, writing and courses, with Facets that show a different version of you to each audience.
- Get started with my site Pick your goal on the dashboard, follow the Site Setup steps, then add your first content and publish.
- Preview my site before visitors see it Site Studio keeps a private draft you can preview, and Publish applies that draft to your live site.
Your site
- Change how my site looks Choose a Look, colours, fonts, light or dark mode and optional custom CSS in Site Studio's Design panel.
- Arrange my homepage sections Add, remove, reorder and configure the sections on your homepage in Site Studio, then publish.
- Connect my own domain Save your domain in Settings > Domain, add the TXT and CNAME records Facet shows you, then check the status.
- Reconnect a disconnected domain Fix the DNS records Facet shows you, then select Reconnect domain in Settings > Domain. Your settings were kept.
- Change my subdomain Change your facetcloud.io address yourself in Settings > Domain, once every 30 days. Old links stop working, and the old name stays yours.
- Set my site's language Choose the fallback language visitors see when nothing else tells Facet which language they prefer.
- See who visits my site Use Facet's built-in Analytics for views and top referrers, or add Google Analytics with your measurement ID.
- Add a tracking pixel, chat widget or other script Paste trusted vendor code into Head HTML or Body-end HTML in Site Settings; it runs on your public pages.
- Show ads or Google AdSense on my site Turn on ad slots filled by your own sponsors or Google AdSense; Facet writes the AdSense line in /ads.txt for you.
- Keep my old links working after a move Add redirects from old paths to pages on your Facet site, one at a time or from a CSV.
Content
- What can I add to my site, and how do I organise it? The kinds of content Facet holds, where each one lives, and how post tags differ from admin tags.
- Write and publish a post Create a post, add a cover image, tags and access settings, then save it as a draft or publish it.
- Add projects, experience and other portfolio entries Add work history, projects, education, skills, certifications, awards and talks, and choose where each one shows.
- Upload and manage images and files The Media Library holds your uploads and linked media, with alt text, tags and a way to find unused files.
- Moderate comments and handle reported content Turn on comments for a post or project, moderate them in Comments, and review reports filed about your site.
- Review imported projects before they go on my site A GitHub repository import arrives as a proposal you approve, review field by field, or reject.
Facets
- Create a Facet Make a version of your site for one audience, with its own link, headline and sections.
- Make a Facet private, password-protected or link-only Choose who can find a Facet, who can open it, and whether they need a password or a private share link.
Courses
- Create a course Start a course, build its modules and lessons, choose who can open it, and publish it. Free courses work on every plan.
- Upload a video to a lesson Upload a video file straight into a lesson on Studio or Creator, and what Preparing video uploads, processing and replacing a video mean.
- Use YouTube or Vimeo for lesson videos Lessons on every plan can play a YouTube or Vimeo video, and when an uploaded Facet video is the better choice.
- Stored and watched video minutes How Facet counts uploaded video: stored minutes for your library, watched minutes for your audience each month, and why a reading can say not yet measured.
- My videos stopped playing: monthly allowance reached What happens when this month's included watched minutes run out, and how to keep uploaded videos playing with a spending limit you choose.
- Sell a course Connect Stripe, set the course to People who bought it, add a price and publish. Payments go to your own Stripe account.
- Release modules over time (drip) Unlock a module a set number of days after each learner enrolls, or on a fixed date for everyone.
- Add a quiz Add a quiz lesson inside a course, or build a standalone quiz to show on your site.
- Give learners a completion certificate Turn on Issue certificates and learners get a certificate automatically when they finish every lesson.
- Sell courses together in a bundle Group two or more published courses into one bundle with its own price, or give them away together for free.
Members & access
- Set up a paid community Create a membership tier, then gate a community space to that tier.
- A member paid but can't open content Use the access check on the member's detail to see exactly which gate is blocking them.
- Which login should my members use? Members sign in on your site's member login with the email they used at checkout, not your admin login.
- Give someone free access Comp a member onto a tier for a number of months, or grant one course or item free of charge.
- Moderate your community Hide, delete or restore community posts and replies, and set up points and levels.
Payments & payouts
- Connect Stripe so I can get paid Link your own Stripe account so buyers can pay you for courses, content, downloads and memberships.
- Sell a download, course, coaching package or membership Use Sell something to put a price on a new item, then manage prices for everything you sell in Products.
- See my sales and what I've earned Money overview totals your sales, fees, refunds and next payout; Sales lists every purchase.
- When and how do I get paid? Buyers pay into your own Stripe account, and Stripe pays out to your bank on your Stripe payout schedule.
- Refund a buyer Refund a one-time purchase in full or in part from Sales; refund memberships in Stripe.
- Create a coupon code Make a percent-off code for your paid courses, posts, projects or bundles, with an optional use limit and expiry.
- Add an order bump or upsell Offer a related course, post, project or bundle as a checkbox at checkout or a one-click page after it.
- Win back buyers who left checkout Facet emails buyers who start a Stripe checkout but don't finish, up to three times.
- Reward members and partners who send buyers Run a member referral program, or invite affiliates and pay them a commission on the sales they bring in.
Newsletter
- Send a newsletter Write a newsletter, choose who gets it, check the recipient count, then send it or schedule it.
- How do people subscribe to my newsletter? Add an Email signup section to a Facet; visitors confirm by email before they count as subscribers.
- Send to only some of my subscribers Use lists for separate newsletters, tags for labels, and saved segments to narrow who gets an email.
- Send emails automatically Email sequences send a series of emails on a delay on every plan; Studio and Creator add automations with conditions and tag steps.
Email delivery
- My emails aren't arriving or go to spam Check whether sending is paused, who was suppressed, and how healthy your list and domain look on the Deliverability page.
- Set who my emails come from Add the legal sender details every newsletter needs, set your sender name and reply-to, and on Studio or Creator send from your own domain.
Audience & customers
- See everyone who subscribed, joined or bought People gathers your audience in one place, and Customers shows one row per person with what they've spent.
- Read messages from my contact form Add a contact form to your site, then read, mark and archive what visitors send in Contact form submissions.
- Show my email, phone and social links on my site Add contact methods, choose which Facets show them, and protect your email and phone from scrapers.

AI setup & agents
- Connect an AI agent to set up my site Create a seven-day setup key so an AI agent can read your site design and prepare private proposals for you to review.
- What can my AI agent set up today? A setup agent can propose your identity, theme, fonts, hero, navigation and homepage sections as a private draft you review in Site Studio.
- Can an AI agent help me build a paid community? Give an agent a separate community key so it can draft an inactive membership tier and an unpublished space for you to review.
- Use AI on my site, or add my own AI key Check your monthly AI credits, and add your own Anthropic, OpenAI or OpenAI-compatible key so AI keeps working when credits run out.

- Send my site's events to another app with webhooks Add an https endpoint, choose events, and Facet sends a signed POST request each time one happens.
- Approve an email my AI agent wants to send When an agent using your API key asks to email more than 25 people, nothing goes out until you approve it in Agent send approvals.
- Connect Zapier, Make, n8n, ConvertKit or Mailchimp Send new subscribers, buyers and students to ConvertKit or Mailchimp, or let Zapier, Make and n8n poll your site's events.
