Connect an AI agent to set up my site

Create a seven-day setup key so an AI agent can read your site design and prepare private proposals for you to review.

Yes, on every plan: as the site owner, create a setup connection key under Set up your site with an AI agent, then give your agent the instructions Facet shows you.

  1. Open Settings, then Set up your site with an AI agent.
  2. To let the agent prepare changes as well as read your design, tick Allow private Site Studio proposals as well as reading my site design. Without it, the key can only read (read:setup); with it, the key also gets write:site_draft.
  3. Select Create setup connection key.
  4. Select Copy instructions and paste them into your AI agent. They hold the key, so keep them private: the key is shown only once. Any agent that can make web requests can use them.
  5. Optional: if your agent only works through MCP, select Download MCP, unzip it, and install Bun. The download is checked against its SHA-256 before it saves. In the copied configuration, replace the example script path with the full path to the extracted facet-mcp-client/services/mcp-server/index.ts, then restart your agent.
  6. When you're finished, select Revoke key.

If this didn't work

  • You see "Only the site owner can connect an AI agent": sign in as the owner. Team members can't create setup keys.
  • The agent can't connect through MCP: check the script path, run bun --version, and check that the key hasn't expired or been revoked.

Keys and proposals last seven days, and you can have up to five active setup keys. A setup key can't publish, manage members, send email or charge anyone. The scoped migration tools in Import are available on every plan and use their own import-only key. The general API is a Creator feature. Never give an agent a broader key to work around a missing tool. There is no hosted one-click connector.
