Release modules over time (drip)

Unlock a module a set number of days after each learner enrolls, or on a fixed date for everyone.

Each module can unlock a number of days after the learner enrolls, or on a fixed date. Set it on the module, in the course outline.

  1. Open the course and go to the Outline tab.
  2. Open the module you want to hold back, or click Add Module.
  3. Under Drip Schedule, fill in Unlock days after enrollment, or Unlock on date to open it for everyone on one day.
  4. Click Save Module, then publish your changes.

Leave both empty for immediate access. A date applies to every learner, and it wins: a zero or empty day count does not override a future unlock date. Days count from when the learner started the course, or from their purchase if they haven't started yet.

If the course has cohorts, learners in a cohort count the days from the cohort's start date instead, and nothing unlocks before the cohort begins. Cohorts are set up on the Learners tab.

If this didn't work

  • A learner says a module is still locked: check their enrollment date, their cohort's start date, and any Unlock on date on that module before promising them a time.
  • Visitors see the module straight away: a day count only applies to a learner Facet can match to an enrollment or purchase. Someone browsing signed out isn't held back by it, only by Unlock on date. If that matters, set Who can open it on the Price tab to something other than Anyone.
