Connect my own domain
Save your domain in Settings > Domain, add the TXT and CNAME records Facet shows you, then check the status.
Save your domain in Facet, then add two records at your DNS provider: a TXT record that proves you own the domain and a CNAME record that points it at Facet.
- Open Settings, then Domain, and choose Configure Domain.
- Enter the domain under Domain. A subdomain such as www.yourdomain.com works with every DNS provider.
- Select Save domain. Facet shows the exact records to add.
- Sign in where you manage DNS for the domain, usually the company you bought it from. Add the TXT record, then the CNAME record. Use Copy next to each value. If Facet offers Set up with your provider, it can add them for you.
- Select Check now to see the status. Facet also checks every few minutes, and the security certificate usually arrives within 15 minutes of the records going live.
If this didn't work
- It still says pending: DNS changes can take from a few minutes to a few hours to appear. Check the records match exactly; some providers want the full name rather than the short one, and Facet shows both.
- I entered a root domain like yourdomain.com: most DNS providers don't allow a CNAME there. Connect www.yourdomain.com instead and forward the root to it at your registrar, or use a CNAME flattening or ALIAS record if your provider supports one.
If the records aren't in place within 14 days, Facet removes the domain and you can add it again any time. Your facetcloud.io address keeps working throughout. Only the site owner can set up or change the domain.
