Can an AI agent help me build a paid community?

Give an agent a separate community key so it can draft an inactive membership tier and an unpublished space for you to review.

Yes. On Studio or Creator, create a community connection key under Set up your community with an AI agent; the agent can draft, and you publish.

  1. Open Settings, then Set up your site with an AI agent, and find Set up your community with an AI agent. You need to be the owner with permission to manage billing, settings, tiers and community.
  2. The key starts read-only with read:community_setup. To let the agent save drafts, tick Allow new inactive tiers and unpublished spaces (this adds write:community_draft).
  3. Select Create community connection key, then Copy instructions and give them to your agent.
  4. Ask the agent to call get_community_setup, then draft_community_setup with dry_run=true. Review the proposed prices, currency and access before you let it save.
  5. After it saves, the agent can read the result with get_community_setup_draft.
  6. Open Review membership tiers and Review community spaces to check the work. Connecting Stripe, activating the tier and publishing the space stay your actions in the normal editors.
  7. Select Revoke key when finished.

If this didn't work

  • The panel says the community connection needs discussions, subscriptions and owner permissions: check your plan is Studio or Creator, and sign in as the owner.
  • A save came back unclear: ask the agent to retry with the same request_id and unchanged payload. A retry returns its original receipt and the current records; it never overwrites your later edits or recreates something you deleted.

Each save can prepare one inactive membership tier and one unpublished, tier-gated space, or link a new unpublished space to an existing tier. These tools don't create members, change billing, send emails or create Stripe products and prices. Each key allows 20 saved operations, and retries don't use another one. Keys last seven days. Revoking a key does not delete its saved tiers or spaces.
