Show ads or Google AdSense on my site
Turn on ad slots filled by your own sponsors or Google AdSense; Facet writes the AdSense line in /ads.txt for you.
Turn on Ads on your site in Site Settings and choose who fills the slots: sponsors you sell yourself, or Google AdSense.
- Open Settings, then Site Settings, and find Ads on your site.
- Switch on Show ads on my site.
- Under What fills the ad slots, choose Sponsors (add up to 5 with an image, alt text and link) or Google AdSense.
- For AdSense, enter your Publisher ID and an Ad unit ID, or tick Let Google place the ads (auto ads).
- Under Where ads appear, choose Light, Standard or Custom.
- Select Save ad settings.
- For AdSense, open
/ads.txton your custom domain and check it shows the line Facet added, then ask AdSense to verify your site.
Paying members, buyers and you never see ads, and paid pages never show them. Free members see ads unless you tick Hide ads for all signed-in members. To keep ads off one post, tick No ads on this post in its editor.
If this didn't work
- Google AdSense won't turn on: AdSense only approves sites on their own domain. Connect a custom domain in Domain settings first. Sponsor slots work on any site.
/ads.txtreturns "not found": it stays empty until your AdSense Publisher ID is saved and your custom domain is connected. Lines for other ad networks go in the ads.txt field under Custom scripts & integrations.
Visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland must agree before seeing personalised ads: turn on Google's consent message in AdSense under Privacy and messaging. During a free trial you can set ads up, and they go live when the trial ends.
