Use YouTube or Vimeo for lesson videos
Lessons on every plan can play a YouTube or Vimeo video, and when an uploaded Facet video is the better choice.
Yes. Any lesson, on any plan, can play a video from YouTube or Vimeo, and it never uses your Facet video minutes.
- Open the course and go to the Outline tab.
- Open the lesson. If no video area shows, click Add a video.
- Under Video source, choose Embed link.
- Paste the video's YouTube or Vimeo page link into Video URL.
- Click Save lesson, then open the lesson signed out to check it plays.
YouTube or Vimeo decides who can watch, what branding shows and whether the video stays up. An unlisted link is not equivalent to Facet-protected native video: anyone who has the link can watch it outside your course. Set privacy and embed restrictions at YouTube or Vimeo.
Choose an uploaded Facet video (Studio and Creator) when the lesson is paid, when you want a clean player with no recommendations, or when learners should only watch inside your course. Pick an embed when the clip is a free preview, when you're on Portfolio, or when it already lives on YouTube and that's fine.
If this didn't work
- The lesson shows no video: only YouTube and Vimeo links play in Video URL. Links from other sites won't display.
- Signed-out visitors can't watch it: check the video's privacy and embed settings at YouTube or Vimeo, and check the lesson is published.
