Use the Creator API and MCP tools
Create an API key with only the scopes a tool needs, so an app or AI agent can read your content, draft courses, set prices or send a newsletter.
On Creator, create an API key under API Keys and give it only the scopes your app or AI tool needs.
- Open Settings, then Set up your site with an AI agent, and scroll to API Keys.
- Select Create API Key and enter a Key Name.
- Choose scopes. Quick presets sets Read-only or Full MCP access in one click, or tick individual AI Tool Scopes (MCP) such as Read content, Write commerce or Send newsletter.
- Optional: list Allowed Origins (one URL per line; empty allows all) and set Expires At.
- Select Create, then Copy Key. The key is shown only once.
- Revoke a key you no longer need with Revoke.
If this didn't work
- "Your role doesn't include this": a key can only get access your own role has. Ask the owner to create the key, or untick those scopes.
- Your tool gets an error for a scope: edit the key and add the scope that action needs. Removing a scope from an active key takes effect immediately.
The API returns JSON over standard REST, so you can show your content on another website, sync people to other tools or build your own front end. With the right scopes, AI tools can read public content (drafts aren't returned), publish or unpublish a post, set up a draft course with its price, change a course price, and prepare or send a newsletter. Ask your tool to run a dry run first; a newsletter send needs a confirmation step. This is separate from the site-setup and migration keys (every plan) and the community key (Studio and Creator).
