Move from Substack

Upload your Substack export .zip once for your posts and again for your subscribers.

Download your Substack export .zip and upload it as it is: once as Posts, then once as Subscribers.

  1. In Substack, open Settings, then Exports, choose Create new export, and download the .zip when it's ready.
  2. In Facet, open Settings, then Import your work, and pick Substack under Switching from another platform?
  3. Select Import posts, upload the .zip, select Preview (nothing is written), then Import now. Every post comes over as a draft with its images and subtitle.
  4. Select Import subscribers, upload the same .zip, preview, then Import now.
  5. In Import history, use Add as redirects on the posts import so your old links keep working.

If this didn't work

  • "The subscriber list in this zip is larger than 25 MB": split the subscriber list and upload it as CSV files instead.
  • Some posts stay private: founding-member posts stay private until you choose which tier can read them. Set that before publishing.

Posts for paid subscribers stay for paying members, and posts for free subscribers need a sign-in. People who turned off emails in Substack stay unsubscribed. Substack's export has no names, so subscribers arrive with email only.
