Upload a video to a lesson
Upload a video file straight into a lesson on Studio or Creator, and what Preparing video uploads, processing and replacing a video mean.
On Studio and Creator you can upload a video file into any lesson. Facet hosts it and only people who can open the lesson can play it.
- Open the course and go to the Outline tab.
- Open the lesson, or click + Add lesson in a module.
- If no video area shows, click Add a video. Under Video source, choose Upload.
- Choose your video file. If the lesson isn't saved yet, Facet saves it first.
- Click Upload video and keep the lesson open while it shows Uploading….
- Wait for Processing video… to change to Video ready. Learners can play it only after that.
If you see Preparing video uploads, Facet is checking that video hosting is ready before it sends your file. Your file stays selected and the upload starts on its own once the check passes. Cancel stops waiting but keeps the file selected.
To replace a video, upload the new file to the same lesson. Facet keeps the old source until the new upload is confirmed ready, so learners never land on an empty lesson.
If this didn't work
- It says "We couldn't confirm video hosting is ready": nothing was uploaded. Click Retry, or use Embed link with a YouTube or Vimeo link for now.
- It stays on Processing video…: large files take a while to process. Don't upload the same file again, because each extra upload holds storage until it is cleaned up.
Portfolio doesn't include uploaded video. Lessons on every plan can use a YouTube or Vimeo link through Embed link. Uploads above 1080p, larger than 32 GB, or above 25 Mb/s are refused, and the video's length counts against your stored minutes. Keep your own copy of every original file.
