Change your facetcloud.io address yourself in Settings > Domain, once every 30 days. Old links stop working, and the old name stays yours.
You can change your facetcloud.io address yourself in Settings > Domain, once every 30 days. Only the site owner can do it.
- Open Settings, then Domain. Your Facet address shows the address your site has now.
- Select Change address and type the new name: 3 to 30 lowercase letters, numbers or hyphens.
- Select Check availability. Facet tells you whether the name is free.
- Read What changes. Links to your old address stop working straight away and don't redirect, so update links you've shared, such as social profiles and email signatures. The old name stays reserved for your site, so you can switch back later.
- Type the new name to confirm, then select Change address.
- Select Sign in at the new address. Your content, members and settings are the same; Facet also emails the owner a record of the change.
If this didn't work
- It says you changed your address recently: the address can change once every 30 days, and the page shows the date you can change it again.
- It says your account is being reviewed, or that Jed & Hannah change the address for you: select Talk to Jed & Hannah on that page and the message is started for you.
- It says your site has a sandbox copy: discard it in Sandbox settings, then try again.
If you'd rather use your own address, connect a custom domain on the same page. A custom domain keeps working when the facetcloud.io address changes.
